I know of a couple that have been married for over 15+ years guy was in his mid twenties she was in her late forties at best back then maybe even fifty. Pretty decent shape for her age but man did she not age well. Two things come to mind, if she would of been level headed and honest with him she should of just told the guy thanks for the compliment but look for someone your age right ? He himself being a handsome young man, bethel material at the time he had the cream of the crop to choose from. I sure wouldn't want to be in his shoes today. Lots of young buck / older cougar couples up this way, wonder what it is. You do see more young guy / older woman couples then the old guy with cute young thing deal, in the org that is. Strange place indeed, they were led to believe that the system would only last a few more years and then everyone would be young again.. I would never subject a woman to such an age difference, just not cool. +5 or -10 max in my case anything more no way no thanks. -

True believers never save their money
by stillin init's an article of faith.
either god is going to save them or he is not.
since one local elder proudly told me that he never saved a nickel until just before his retirement, i've given this subject some thought.. savers are worldly..

Stillin, yes you are right I have become sort of a gold bug and am now better than where I was before the loss. I must say I got out a month before the tech crash so that was a good move there. I sold Visa too quick though and watched it go up and up and up. So I kinda learnt going both ways. You're also right it can never be all green, I mentioned Jesse Livermore above, even he lost it all. Best is to be reasonable and avoid unhealthy greed.
BTW good post bro thanks.

During the financial crisis the PO in my congo made light of the media's portrayal of brokers holding their heads in disbelief off of the trading room floors, going so far as to imitate their postures from the platform. Back then I had put my trust in a local well known investment firm for my privately built up retirement fund with the belief that they would handle my investment account better than I ever could thereby freeing me up to better run my business and have more time for the twoof. At least that was the idea but boy was I ever wrong : took a 40% hit, went into severe depression on account of my stupidity for putting my trust in others and not thinking for myself and being better informed. Life lesson that took me years to recover from. They say your first investment loss is usually your best to learn from, is so true. Actually I think it's a Jesse Livermore quote.
When that elder gave his parts with the head holding mimic saying that JW's were not so dumb as to invest and were protected it drew nodding heads from nearly the whole congregation, even the union types that have managed accounts. Well I knew then and there that I had been fooled and also drew very little sympathy from anyone on my losses. I also found out that money is often a very emotional subject with people made even more so amongst JW's where everyone in the hall knows about each other's assets in jealousy and envy. I heard through the grapevine that I had become fodder for gossip as well. Never went back to that hall after that embarrassing little scenario in my life..

Good stuff John ! The society's worst nightmare, the internet. Thank-you Ray Franz and Don Cameron !
Just sent a .pdf of ISOCF to my shop neighbor. His wife went to a meeting once, her first and last in the late seventies when she was single. So insulted was she that she stopped the study right then and there and never went back. What got her upset was the bashing of other religions and the superiority complex.
I sent them COC earlier this summer and she loved it. It gave her closure as to what happened back then when she got involved.
Good one Millie210, I was thinking about that Daniel quote myself a few days ago !

What has the Watchtower reading material done to YOU?
by The Rebel inthe reason i ask is because i realise i couldn't go on reading watchtower material.
i have discovered it did something to my mind no other literature has done to me before.
it had turned me in to a person without a heart, or soul, and made me in humane and distant from other humans who didn't share the w.t world view.. i now feel ashamed of my childish behaviour, and i have learnt :-.

I got the new Greatest Man That Ever Lived book this summer at the assembly. I couldn't even get past the first page before putting it down in disgust. Who writes these things and what kind of English is that ? It reads like a serial manipulator with an agenda, oh wait.. Their material always had a slant to it, even as kids we'd pick up on it and my brother would make fun of it but it seems to have become exponentially worst over time.
On edit : Always makes me feel like my freedom to think for myself is being intruded upon.

Neat GIM, your book is on my list. If you go into Amazon I find that they mostly all come up. Ray Franz's books are a must read as well as Don Cameron's Captives of a Concept. But I agree the first person biographies are great, better than going to the movies ! I enjoyed Journey to God's House by Brock Talon as well as New Boy's Bethel stories on Freeminds. Pretty cool that you post here thanks !
